Wednesday Inspiration - Jessica Claire

First off, thanks so much to everyone who took some time out of their day to post a comment to yesterday’s post (suggesting presets). As I’ve said before I know how precious your time is and I’m honestly thankful that you continue to spend some of it here. I’ll be posting a follow up with my findings summarized tomorrow. Anyway, on to the inspiration/website for the week. This one is for all of you wedding photographers out there. Heck, even if you’re not a wedding photographer I think it’s just an interesting website to visit. It’s Jessica Claire Photography and she’s got some really beautiful work. Plus, she really let’s her personality come through in her blog and (to me at least) that ranks up there with one of the top things I look for when I visit blogs. So go pay her site a visit and enjoy your Wednesday.

Some Links, Inspiration and a Flickr Group

First off, the folks over at Adobe have launched a Lightroom community help site or, as they call it, a “wiki”. Seriously, do they ever sleep there? Anyway, I was extremely honored because at the last Photoshop World in Las Vegas, I met with a few of the Adobe folks and they asked if I was interested in participating by making some quick 30-60 second videos that people could watch quickly (fast being the whole idea behind a “wiki”). So as you’re looking through the site for Lightroom help you may even hear a familiar voice here or there. Here’s the link.

We have our own Flickr group. Yep, one of the visitors to this site created a Flickr group to show off photos that you apply my presets to. As the creator of these presets I can’t tell you how cool that is and it really made my day on Monday when I found out. Here’s the link. Make sure you get in and join the group and start posting some photos. Thanks to everyone who has already posted and thanks to Sznerchu for creating the group.

Finally, here’s a little inspiration to wrap things up. Pay Jill Greenberg Photography a visit when you get a chance today. I recently got a question from somebody asking how to produce an effect in one of her photos. Then I went to her site and realized I’ve been seeing her work everywhere - I just never knew it was all from the same person. There’s a little bit of everything and I think once you hit the site you’ll wind up spending the next 20 minutes there like I did. Well that’s it for today. See you back tomorrow for the Friday Tip.

Thursday Inspiration

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an inspirational website so here’s two to make up for it. The first one kind of struck a personal chord with me because I love to play golf. Back in the early and mid 90’s I used to practice 4-5 times a week and play at least twice a week all year round (the perks of living in Florida :) ). The late 90’s came and I got married and had kids so golf has taken a back seat. Even though I don’t play nearly as much as I’d like, I still love the sport. Nothing is quite as breathtaking to me as standing at an awe-inspiring golf hole and Aidan Bradley’s golf course photography does a great job of capturing that feeling.

Now, if golf and landscapes aren’t your cup o tea, you’ve got to check out Rastmansar’s Flickr photos. He was recently showcased on the Strobist for an amazing photo of a volleyball play and that got me into looking at his portfolio on Flickr. Wow! Very cool stuff. You’ll definitely be impressed no matter what styles you’re into. That’s it for today. See you tomorrow to wrap up the week.

A little inspiration (and stuff) to hold you over

It’s a short week for me so here are a few things to hold you over the long weekend.

1) First, pay a visit to Rodolphe Simeon Photography. His photostream over at Flickr is generating quite a bit of traffic and his website has some really great photos on it. Definitely worth visiting.

2) A while ago I posted a link to Elizabeth Carmel’s fine art photography website. Well, she’s updated the look and added some new stuff on there so you’ll want to re-visit when you get the chance. If you haven’t seen it - well, make sure you take a look. She’s got some fantastic work.

3) Finally, I know most of you have probably seen this site before so consider this as a gentle reminder to go visit it again. It’s the Strobist and if you’re looking for a Thanksgiving weekend project, then reading through the old posts on this site will keep you busy for the duration. Great site! I don’t visit every day but when I do visit I wind up killing a couple of hours and even get some inspiration about new projects to try.

Well, that’s it for the Wednesday inspiration update (and other stuff). Happy Thanksgiving!
