Here's a few links worth checking out while you're web surfing today:

• Scott Eccleston over at Weekly Photo Tips featured me in a Q&A.

• Tim Armes has a new plug-in that exports your photos and preserves the folder hierarchy during the export for the new images.

• Cool product of the day alert. I haven't tried the Eye-Fi memory cardsout yet but I think I'm going to have to. Wireless transmitting of photos to your computer has got to be cool! :)

• Sean McCormack over at the Lightroom Blog has released a couple of plug-ins that export photos to your Twitter.com account. One is called LR2TweetPhoto and the other is LR2Tweetpic.

• Sherri Meyer did a top 10 Lightroom tweets of the week. Even if you hate twitter, there's some good links there to check out.

YMMV with the Eye-FI memory card. I purchased two as well as a SD to CompactFlash adapter to allow me to use one in my D300. The Eye-FI card works fine in my Wife’s D90 but it seems to have a bit more of a problem with getting the signal out from the D300. I think it might be a combination of the adapter the allows me to use the card in the D300 and the D300’s greater use of metal in the body that interfere. Whenever I place the CF card adapter with the SD Eye-Fi card in my external card reader it promptly begins sending the files to my SmugMug account. It also seems like it gets the images (JPG only – no NEF as near as I can tell) to my computer by downloading them from SmugMug. If you are near cellphone towers the geotagging is kind of nice though.

Nice plug-in; but why do you wait such a long time? I’ve already uploaded such a plug-in for a while to Adobe Exchange ;-)

With my plug-in you can even burn the whole directory to any DVD/CD. Give it a try.

Hey Matt, great interview (Q&A). – such a compelling photo of you, shall we call you Professor Lightroom? :) Seriously, nice job.

  5. Ian Worthington says:

Homer: Correct. Eye-fi only transmits jpegs, not raw files, and is known to have issues with CF adapters (or cameras) which enclose it in metal.

    HI MATT,
IS THERE A PLUGIN OR A WAY TO EXPORT TO PHOTOSHOP.COM?
I AM WANTING TO USE THE UPLOAD TO WEB SO THEY CAN BE KEPT DOWN TO 200-300K ..

RIGHT NOW I USE AN ACTION IN PHOTOSHOP (SAVE FOR WEB AND DEVICE) THAT BATCHES A FOLDER. BUT IT MIGHT BE COOL TO BE ABLE TO UPLOAD STRAIT FROM LIGHTROOM…

    Hi Matt
ive been usin gth eeye fi for a while and love it to death. And just released the new “pro” card does RAW!! woo hoo!

  8. Ian Worthington says:

@Johno — Just checked out the pro, thanks.

Its $150, $100 more than the basic model, and *still* not a CF version. Not sure what the shielding might do to the transmission rate of large raw files: I’d certainly want to test it before I splashed out that.

I have tried to connect to Timothy Arme’ s web site (www.timothyarmes.com) a number of time over the last week but the site seems to have vanished.

Anybody know what has happened to the site ?
