Video Interview with Scott Kelby
I sat down with Scott Kelby (author of the new Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers) to talk about his new book. Before we go any further, let me say that this was totally my idea because I wanted to try to pump Scott's ego up as far as I could. See, when Scott's in a good mood he gets really generous with his photo gear and I love photo gear... (and I'm totally just kidding here). Seriously, this was my idea for two reasons: 1) I've been getting a lot of questions from people to see if this 2nd version of the book is the same as the first and, 2) I honestly believe it's the best book out there. I realize you have choices out there when it comes to which book to buy and with things getting a little tighter these days, I truly believe this is the book that will help you the most. I personally watched a "this'll take a few weeks" timeline turn into double that because of Scott's dedication to writing and rewriting each tutorial in the book, as well as finding photos that best demonstrated the tutorial. But it even trickled down to what to name a tutorial to make it as easy as possible for you, the reader, to quickly get to the concepts you wanted to learn without sifting through page after page. Anyway, enough talk (or words I guess). See for yourself and watch the 6 minute video.
Oh yeah, don't forget about the contest at the end. Just leave a comment here that says "Hi!" or something about the book if you already have it (or are thinking of getting it) and I'll pick a winner at the end of the week.
Oh yeah (again), make sure you scroll down for another weekly worth-a-click post.

…So we can just say hi? Well, let’s go a little bit beyond and say “salut !” from a guy from France AND canada (the BC part that is). I must say there isn’t much Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. going on around where I am (Fernie) except once in a year (ok maybe twice) in Calgary (4hrs away) so I gotta pretty do everything online. So thanks for all the shows, the blogs, the tutorials, NAPP and everything else you guys (Scott, Dave (at least one Canadian), R.C., Corey and the whole crew) do online. It’s wonderful… and I’m working on being able to teach all this things to (I think I know quite a bit) and maybe do it in French too. We lack a lot of Adobe teaching material in French.
Thanks and Salut again,
From a French Guy that’s know never to write… (except this time)
Cheers

My wife said that if I don’t win the book, I am to put it on my Amazon.com Wish List. So, in either case, I win!
October 10th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Matt,
I do have Scott’s first book and after the video I have a better understanding of why I could/should get the new book. I do have a question for you as to your video tutorials versus Scott’s book. I have not signed up yet for the online classes, so I could use your help in deciding what are the differences in what you cover and what’s in the book; what’s your recommendation if I can’t do both as the money now is a little tighter. Is it possible to understand Lightroom 2 with the Lightroom 1 book and your online classes?
Thanks for all you do on LR Killer Tips. I’m new at this and you explain everything really well.

I loved Scott’s LR1 book. Unfortunately I upgraded to LR2 only five weeks after buying the book, so I could really use a free copy of the new book.

Hi Matt & Scott,
I agree that the LR2 book is a “must-have” for anyone who is serious about learning LR2 — it is truly a re-write. Everyone needs at “least” one copy.

G’day Matt,
I have both versions of Scott’s books, Lightroom 1&2.
After 40+ years of photography and a library of photographic books Scott’s books are my “toolbox” for my digital images.
He writes in such a way that even an “old fart” like me can understand it all and I’m having a ball with digital photography.
Your killer tips are well used by me most days too.
Thanks for a great website.
Cheers, Tim Elliott.

Hi from Holland. Great website, great tutorials and films. Though I normally skip at least 1 upgrade, thanx to your adjustments-brush-video I ordered LR2 and am using it with great pleasure. Just takes 1GB internal memory after some adjustments, oops, was not allowed to tell.. kidding. Great software, waiting what will be improvements in next versions.
