Saturday Video Tip? Cool Brushing in LR
I know… the unexpected Saturday post has reared its head again. Better yet, it’s the unexpected Saturday Blog Post Video tip! You just can’t beat that can you
Anyway, this week I’ve got a 1 minute video tip for you on some very cool brushing options in LR 2 beta. I know it’s just in beta and version 2 isn’t out yet, but this is one of my favorite tips in version 2 and I’ve been dying to show it. Enjoy and have an awesome weekend.
Update: Apparently this doesn’t work in the Windows version of the beta. I haven’t been able to test this out for sure (but many comments have been left alerting me of this) but it’s looking like a no-go for Windows. Sorry about that.

Hi Matt
I have been looking for such a feature but it doesn’t work for me. I have a Wacom Bambooo on Windows Vista but no matter what i do… i do not get preasure sensitivy for the brush tool. Of course it works in other applications like Photoshop. Any settings i have to apply?

Hi,
At last, Ad*be people start to make a darkroom-like photo software out of LR - was about time - yay! But of course one will have to reach for the wallet to enjoy it… Hoping for the burn/dodge tool as well.
Have a great week end - Flo.

Yeah, I can confirm that pressure sensitivity is not working with Wacom Bamboo and Windows Vista. Real Bummer!

Great video! I have an idea for a Lightroom tutorial: How do you fix Chromatic aberration in Lightroom?

I can never get your video tips to open. All I get is gobbeldy-gook little squares and stuff. What do I need in order to see them?

Super cool. Cool shot too!
I think I’ll get used to it, and it’s great to have this right in LR, though somehow it does not seem as simple as in PS. I have to try it with my Wacom though, I didn’t think of that.
Burn and dodge is the untapped magic of these editing programs. It so powerful if you know how to use it. I did a vid on Siem Effects awhile back about using B&D to really enhance an image, and it helped me remember just how powerful it was.

To ernie decker,
To get the video to play, I download the video to a temporary directory, and then I change the file extension from “.m4v” to “.mpg”. I then click on it and it plays using Windows Media Player.
Hope this helps!

I cannot get this to work either — I am using Windows XP and a Wacom Intuos3 tablet. I just don’t see any variation in the sensitivity of the brush, regardless of how hard or how light I press.

The pressure sensitivity is not currently in the Windows version of Lightroom 2 Public Beta. Not meaning to plug our own site too much but we have a number of other videos on Lightroom 2 beta and using the retouching tool over at http://cameradojo.com.

Can I make some suggestion, Matt. I love the lightroom killer tips. There are problems that I would like for you to set up the subtitle for the hearing impaired that has problem not understanding the video. I enjoyed working the lightroom which has alot of color corrections better than the photo shop. Again, please do think about setting up the subtitle so I wont keep asking for this again in the future time. I bet and you wont be surprised how many hearing impaired has a skill with lightroom tips but dont get with hearing the voice. The subtitle will help me and other who has the hearing loss/deaf. Again, just think for our sake.
Honestly, I do enjoy the lightroom very much. That’s my hobby with this and I have also love the presets too. Keep up the good work! My suggest is for you to considering think what I would like for you to do “SUBTITLE” Pretty PlEaSe!!!!!!!

Hi Matt,
Sorry to weigh in so late on this, but rest assured that although it is not currently working on PC, it will be for the release version.

Hi Matt,
A killer tip suggestion: is it possible to export .jpg incorporating an ICC Printer Profile, such as Drycreek -> Costco Frontier? This is one killer tip that, if it is possible, would make my printing painless at Costco and other off-site printers.
Many Thanks,
JG
