New Presets - Burnt Tone
As you may have seen, I took a couple of days off but I’m back from my quick trip out west and I’ve got another free preset for you. This one was actually inspired by a poster I saw in Las Vegas this past weekend. The effect was a very strong burned feeling and I set out on the flight back home to recreate it.
When you download the presets (and unzip the zip file), you’ll notice that there are two presets in this package. One of them is for people and the other is for anything with a sky in it. One thing I noticed when creating it is that skies reacted differently (mostly in a bad way) to the people preset so I made a couple of changes to account for anything with sky in it (which ended up doing bad things to skin tones, hence the “sky” name). That said, rules are made to be broken so feel free to give either preset a try on any photo to see which one you like better.

To be honest, I don’t like this preset very much. This looks more like a job for Photoshop than Lightroom (meaning masking).

Just wanted to drop you a note of thanks Matt. I’ve been visiting your site and downloading presets for a while now. But never left a comment. I really dig you blog - almost as much as I did Lightroom. Keep the good stuff coming.

Question…I am about to install a new internal hard drive on my mac and I was wondering how to save my Lightroom Presets that I have made and the ones that I have downloaded for your site. Your are great by the way. Also where are they stored?

Unrelated question…if a person were to want to inquire about your availabilty to speak at a photo event, how would I go about that? You have my email (as required by this post), any chance you could contact me for the details?

I have just used your Burnt Tone presets on silhouettes I took on a coastal sunset shoot and the results are beautiful. Thanks for another cracking preset combination. When it comes to LR, Matt, you are the GURU!

Gerry - I wound up breaking even. I had a blast though.
Ivan - Oh well.
Casey - They’re located in Library > Application Support > Adobe > Lightroom. You could also just right click on the preset and export them. Then re-import them later.
Everyone else - thanks for the kind words. I know this was a little different but I agree with scott. We needed some color and I think this was a cool (or hot
) one.

Maybe I’m asking something obvious, but how do I save an image’s all different stages?
Let me explain the scenario.
I have an awesome image that I want to try out some cool changes to. Of all my tweeks and settings I really like how it turns out in 10-20 different ways.
I have loads of more images that I like, and want to try with even more different settings. All these different unique settings/stages for all these different images is something I want to save for later!
Now the problem - how do I save all these unique settings PER image!?
