It’s Back! LR 1.4 (Take two!)
Yep, the Lightroom 1.4 update is back again. If you recall from some posts a few weeks ago, Adobe released the 1.4 update and then recalled it. Personally, it worked fine for me and I ran into lots of people that left it as is and never uninstalled the 1.4 update and things continued to work fine. But I know lots of folks that it didn’t work with as well. That said, whether you did or didn’t install it back then, it is back up again. It probably wouldn’t hurt to wait a few days before downloading it though ![]()
However, if you’re the kind that can’t wait, please post a comment with your findings here on whether things are still running ok. Thanks!

Hi Matt!
I installed the LR 1.4.1 update for PC two days ago and I didn’t notice any problems so far! Adobe made a good job with this update.
Best regards,
Markus

I installed it the day it came out and it’s been working just fine.
Interestingly, it seems to have solved the Epson printer problem with Mac OS X Leopard using Lightroom. You do have to have the latest driver installed, which can be a bit trickly. See the Apple forums for details on how to make sure the old driver is uninstalled first.

What’s new in this update?

Works just dandy!

Works fine.

Other than the Presets disappearing, it works fine. Mind you I’m just a beginner with LR. The Presets re-appeared after a logout and into my user account.

Loaded 1.4.1 the night it came out and haven’t had any problems, of course I didn’t have any problems with 1.4 either.

So far, so good, Matt.

The original 1.4 version changed the time stamp on all the photographs I imported with it. I uninstalled it as soon as that fact become known. I installed 1.4.1 the day it was released, and it is running like a charm.

I had major problems with it this weekend as it crashed over 10 times on me while at a wedding. Every time I would be importing from a card and trying to look through the library at the same time it would crash. Not cool. Needless to say I was not happy with it.

I’ve never had problems with both previous 1.4 and actual 1.4.1…
My workflow is EOS 350D -> iPhoto -> Lightroom though, so…

@Joel
You should n e v e r update a software when you’re on a job. Updating software is something for “quiet times”….. Hope you could finish the wedding-job though..

Hey, farrell…i thought I had it all installed corrctly but is that why I get so many “communication errors” with my R2400

works nice for me! One “bad” thing that I notice - did not rotate pictures readind from EXIF - all my pix from Nikon P5100 after import are not rotated!

I updated to 1.4.1 and did not see anything unusual. There is, however, something happening when I edit with Photoshop from Lightroom. I suspect that my having XMP Metadata turned on is causing Photoshop to complain when trying to save the edited photo. It states that it cannot save the photo due to a “program error” which means I just lost all work in Photoshop for that photo. Has anyone else seen issues going back and forth between Lightroom and Photoshop? I would think that they should work seamlessly!

I installed the 1.4.1 update over the weekend on my WinXP SP2 PC and have had no troubles whatsoever.

The page for the Mac download isn’t loading. It’s been like this for almost the past 24hrs. Weird.

When importing NEF and JPG’s the JPG’s are now the default Images for me in the filmstrip. I want my default images always to be NEF when importing and being added to the catalog.
Before the .jpg was just a shadow copy if you will. Not sure what happened. So I reverted back to 1.3.1.

No doubt this is a nice upgrade — or would be if it would install. Whenever I try to run the upgrade (v 1.3 currently installed) the process appears to go ahead normally, including a message that Adobe_lightroom.msi is being extracted. Eventually, a window pops up saying this file is on a CD. The only CD I have is the original version 1, and the installer produces an error message if I try to use that. A comprehensive search of my hard disc also fails to find any trace of Adobe_Lightroom.msi and the only solution is to abort the installation. I have now wasted an entire morning on this with no sign so far of success. (BTW, I am attempting the installer under an admin account on Win XP).
In view of the earlier debacle with the version 4 “upgrade” — which fortunately I did not attempt — this experience does not inspire confidence in the utility or stability of 4.1!

I have had no problems with this new update but then I had no problems with the initial release.
I still prefer to use Aperture though and in particular the RAW processing of Aperture 2.0 is very, very good. Adobe have regained some lost ground with Beta 2.0, but Apple already match that and more. By the time LR 2.0 is released Aperture will be way ahead again. Great for us the consumer though!

I downloaded it the first time around. I downloaded the update. I still haven’t had any problems with it. I’m lovin’ it.

They should better have worked on the release of 2.0. I’m waiting for the final
on April 16th, 2008 at 5:49 am
No problems here..I also had no problems with the initial upgrade.
on April 16th, 2008 at 10:00 am
No problems for me either. Seems to work just fine.

1.3 was working fine but when I installed the update it crashes when attempting to export…everytime. I’m looking for my saved version of the 1.3 installer.

1.4.1 seems slower to me on a PC when processing a website … it’s HTML totally and one of the provided templates.

Both the initial 1.4 release and now 1.4.1 for MAC OS (run on a G5) give serious problems when importing RAW images from my Sony Alpha 100 DSLR camera. On importing files into the library and copying them from the camera memory card to the disk on my computer Lightroom crashes completely in a what seems random moment during import. I can only get it to work it again by replacing the Lightroom library by a previously made backup. On every attempt to import new photos it crashes again. So the version is totally worthless. I will need to go back to the 1.3 version. Not something you expect from an Adobe program. I hope some one has a solution to the problem
