Lightroom 1.3 Update (and more!)

By mattk on Friday, November 16th, 2007 at 9:58 am | News.

Looks like the folks over at Adobe have been quite busy lately. There’s a brand new update for Lightroom which brings us to version 1.3. One of the most notable of the enhancements is compatibility with Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard). I posted a Q&A about it earlier this week. There’s also support for some of the new cameras (mainly the newer Nikon and Canon cameras). If that weren’t enough, Adobe has also released updates for Camera Raw and Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3. The easiest way to find out more about the updates is to check out Terry White’s Tech blog. Or click on one of the links below to download the updates.
- Click the Help menu in Photoshop and choose Updates to get the updates for Photoshop, Camera Raw, and Bridge
- Or…Download all of the updates here

    Hi Matt,

Good to see a leopard update. However, the LR blog on Adobe suggests that they are still not sure about the Time Machine issue.

Has anybody actually tried downloading these updates? They’re nowhere to be found on the adobe site (try clicking until the download starts).

Did I miss 1.2? Or did they just skip to 1.3?

The easiest way to get them is to click Help > Updates in Photoshop. That way you don’t have to dig around on the website. The Lightroom link should work fine though.

Hi Matt, Just a incredible update. Had a few Leopard issues with 1.2 such as flash galleries which were not fully functional. But 1.4 kicks B*t with some great templates for flash galleries. I’ll be spending my friday evening with this baby.

Note: my wife won’t matter because she was going out with the Galls anyway ;-)

Thanks for your great Blog and Podcast

    Same problem here,…
In Lightroom, when I click Help->Check for Updates it says that there is a 1.3 update available but pressing Download redirects me at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/?notFoundID=null .

I just downloaded 1.3 and noticed it did not repair the image capture time problem that occured when the time changed to standard time from daylight savings time. My image capture times are still short 1 hour. Does anyone know if they fixed the problem or will we have to reset everything only to have it messed up again in the Spring when the time changes again?

I echo a few other commenters… I get that not found null download page which has a link to the 1.1 update. Does anyone understand what is going on here and why some are finding it and others of us can’t seem to find it on the Adobe site?

Anyone else experience printer color profile problems with 1.4 on Leopard? The same profile is giving me dramatically different results in Tiger (bootable backup with LR 1.3) compared to Leopard with 1.4.

Is this LR’s fault? Or has something gone crazy with my R1800 drivers?

  20. Matrix said,

    Oops! I have no idea why I kept saying 1.4 in my post…sleep deprivation I guess. :P Obviously I mean 1.3 whenever I said 1.4, and 1.2 whenever I said 1.3.

Successful download from Adobe here. But, what about the flickr option? I cant seem to find it. Anyone?

How do you export to Flickr? I’m using a PC with Lightroom 1.3.

  23. Ronald said,

    on November 17th, 2007 at 5:46 am

I saw that Adobe has released an SDK for lightroom that includes sample code for an export to Flickr. I guess you have to download the SDK and install the sample plugin. See also http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroomsdk/

Haven’t tried this yet, let me know if you have tried.

Sorry, but what flickr export are you guys talking about? You mean that there is a direct export to Flickr in Lightroom 1.3, right? But I didn’t find it. Where it is? I’d love that feature.

(btw. Thanks for the link, Alex.)

Can we suggest Adobe for a better Lr ? If yes, Where ?

It should be easy for professional photographer to make recommendations to Adobe.

How about a direct link from the HELP menu to Adobe ?

Thanks Alex for the link for Lightroom 1.3 .
Strange this update business - for Bridge and CS3 updates, I find myself directed to the “Browse all downloads by product” page but the latest updates are not there and I’ve done some hunting!

There are still some Time Machine and print issues (HEAVY print issues, actually) with LR 1.3 and Leopard. Switching to the print module makes your LR to crash 99% of times. Adobe knows it and I really hope for them they fix it quickly. Here’s the link with some technical details

Hope this is of help to those hunting for the elusive updates. I found the Adobe updater wouldn’t work but then disabled my Hosts file ( optional internet security thing) and now all updates installed.

i tried the 1.3 and have some serious trouble - guess its a bug…

within a folder (lets say 2007>easter) i used to mark x-amount of virtual copies of pictures, then right click on the “easter”-folder to create a new folder (lets say “BW”) as a child of “easter” and check to use the marked fotos in that new folder.

always worked. if i do that now in 1.3 LR does not take the virtual copies inside the new child folder. if i try to do it manually, LR tells me it cant do it unless i move the originals to that new folder - which is definitely NOT what i intended to to…

this is every day procedure for me - until today :-(
    any comments?

I recently upgraded to Apple’s Leopard OS for my Mac Pro. I also updated to Lightroom 1.3. I waited until 1.3 was available before upgrading the Mac OS. Since upgrading, printing to my Epson Stylus Pro 3800 has been a problem. I updated the printer driver to the latest 10.5 compatible driver from Epson’s website but I still have problems. Prints no longer match what I see on my monitor. Colors are weak and washed out, lacking all saturation. I have tried increasing saturation via Lightroom’s saturation control but it has no effect on the printer’s output. I am using ICC profiles for my paper/printer combination and set printer color control off. I have tried exporting images to Photoshop and printing from Photoshop with the same results—unsaturated, washed-out prints.

Has anyone else encountered printing problems with these latest updates and does anyone have a clue as what is going on?

I’ve recently imported raw photos into Lightroom and all of the raw photos are coming out with an over-saturated look to them. All the colors are extremely saturated. They look kind of cool, but not at all like they should Does anyone know why this is happening?
